Here is a short introduction to the way we work and why we are able to deliver for businesses like yours.

Search marketing is all about getting your business website seen by your target audience when they are using the internet to look for the products, services or the information that they want. If you can place your website in front of this audience and ahead of your competitors, then you have a serious business advantage.  …Read More….

Until fairly recently the two main elements involved in Search Marketing have been Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Paid Search Marketing or Pay Per Click (PPC).  There is now a third element Social Media marketing which is having a significant impact on online marketing.

Although these three elements are distinct in their own way, they are all fundamentally linked is by one common thing and that is Content.

Content is King and there is no getting away from the fact that if you are to be successful in promoting your business online then you need to have an effective, well planned content strategy.

So if you want your business to be successful online what is the most important thing you need?

Quite simply you need your business to Be Found!  If your website is not easily found by your target audience then your business is invisible.

If you are selling widgets then you need your website to appear as near to the top of the search engine results whenever anyone searches online for “widgets”. The closer to the top of the search results you get, the better your chances of that potential customer finding your website, liking what you say, and buying a widget from you.

So how do you achieve that?

Well you have a couple of tried and tested strategies that can put your business right on the first page of the search returns. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC)

Let’s start with a quick look at SEO.

Getting to the top of the rankings will be no easy matter. Just think how many other websites you are up against.

Now, also think about what the search engines like Google Bing and Yahoo!, have to do in deciding which websites – or more specifically which web pages – they are going to display at the top of the list. There are billions of web pages out there – and the web is increasing massively every single day – how can the search engines rank these pages and show you the best results first – all in a matter of milliseconds?

The answer is that at the heart of each of the search engines sits a very complex algorithm and the search engines work tirelessly to ‘index’ every page of every website and to store that information, so that when a search is made online for say “red widgets” the algorithm’ then makes a whole series of complex calculations and decisions about which indexed pages they will present in which order.

The exact way that these algorithms work is never revealed. There are over 200 factors impacting on the final ranking position and the algorithms are constantly being developed and modified to reflect the search engines desire to always present the best, most relevant, most authoritative, most up to date information to the searcher. This is why you should be extremely sceptical of any SEO company that says they can guarantee page one positions for your business. They cannot control the algorithm and therefore they cannot guarantee a page one position.

As a Search Marketing company we closely monitor and study the search engines and try to understand why they will rank one website higher than another and what the search engines are looking for from websites.  Because we are experienced in this area we know that such things as relevancy, site authority in-bound links and website structure are all key elements and one of the most important currently is high quality, original content that gives value to the website visitor.

To get high rankings in the search engines for the valuable search terms being used by your target audience is not an easy thing. Without doubt unless you know what you are doing you will need the services of a trusted Search Engine Optimisation company. You should not expect quick wins either (though sometimes they do happen) typically it will take between 3 and 6 months before you start to achieve the ranking positions you will need for a successful internet strategy. This is because a sustainable SEO campaign will need to include many aspects of your website; the actual way your website has been built, the internal structure and layout of your site, the content on the site, the type and number of in-bound links your site is attracting and the frequency with which content is added and updated, as well as your involvement in social media.

To ensure that your business is found effectively on line you will need to address all these elements.

But don’t despair – it can be done – every day we are helping businesses like yours to be found online and when you are then the results can be extremely beneficial; more sales, a growing customer base, increased profits. We are here to help.

Now let’s take a quick look at Pay Per Click (PPC) also known as paid search marketing or maybe you have heard of “Adwords” which is Google’s PPC product.

Pay Per Click is a highly effective method of online marketing if done correctly. In effect you are paying to get your website listed on page one of the search engines results.

In general  terms, with PPC you set up a campaign based on a selected number of keywords or phrases – when someone searches via a search engine and uses one of the phrases in your campaign then your “Advert” will be displayed. If the searcher then clicks on your advert  they will be taken to your website – in fact to a specific page in your website – and you will be charged for that click – hence the term Pay Per Click.

The key benefits of a PPC  campaign:

  • Hit the market quickly.  With PPC you can be on page one of Google (or other search engines) within just a few hours of your campaign going live.
  • Highly manageable. PPC is highly manageable and controllable. You will decide how much you want to spend and the campaign can be designed around that monthly budget. If you need to pause or stop the campaign for any reason this can be done instantly.
  • Precise Audience Targeting. You can tightly define the type of audience that will see your advert. You can also target the geographical areas that you want to cover. For example if your target audience is all within 30 miles of your business you can set your PPC campaign to only display your ads to people within that geographical area.
  • Increase Conversions with Landing Pages.  Your PPC campaign can be set up so that when your advert is clicked the visitor goes directly to a specially page on you website which is specifically written and designed to maximise your chances of converting that visitor into a customer or at least into a prospect who can be contacted and followed up later.
  • Detailed Reporting. The systems which control the PPC programmes also provide comprehensive reporting information.

While it is pretty straight forward to set up a PPC campaign, if you are not experienced or knowledgeable about how the campaign will work then you could end up making some very costly mistakes or create a campaign which generates no business.

Running a successful PPC campaign is all about getting a return on your investment – that includes your time as well as your money.

We mentioned the critical role that “content” will play in determining success in Search Marketing. High Quality, well written, original content will add real value to your site visitors and will encourages them to pass your website onto others.
